Actor-director Rajiv Kapoor, son of famous filmmaker-actor Raj Kapoor, passed away on 9 February. He was 58.
Neetu Kapoor, wife of the late actor Rishi Kapoor, confirmed the news on Instagram.
He wrote “RIP” with a picture of his brother-in-law.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
Rajiv Kapoor made his acting debut in the 1983 film “Ek Jaan Hain Hum”, but first made his appearance as a lead figure in the blockbuster film “Ram Teri Ganga Maili” (1985), which was Raj Kapoor’s last Was a directorial venture.
He acted in films like “Plasma”, “Lover Boy”, “Zabardast” and “Hum To Chale Pardes”.
Rajeev Kapoor’s last film as a hero was 1990’s “Zimedar”. Then he switched to production and direction.
His first production was “Henna”, directed by eldest brothers Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.
In 1996, Rajiv Kapoor made his feature directorial debut with “Prem Granth” starring Rishi Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit-Nene.
He also produced the 1999 romance drama “Aa Ab Laut Chalen” directed by Rishi Kapoor.
Rajiv was the youngest among his brothers Randhir and Rishi, and sisters Ritu Nanda and Reema Jain. His eldest sister Ritu Nanda and brother Rishi Kapoor died in January and April last year.
