I've tried the whole running 'regedit.exe' thing, but CMD says that it can't execute the specified program. Other benefits of registering an account are subscribing to topics and forums, creating a blog, and having no ads shown anywhere on the site. The speed of the burn did not matter, it was how the drive is addressed. If you have a post cd including any of the SP's, it would not have to ask... Once Windows started it mapped the drive as D: and no longer used CdRom0. It sounds like you are trying to reinstall Windows from withing Windows. Globalroot Device Cdrom0 I386 I've tried booting from the the hard drive, it just says resuming setup and goes back to the same point in the installation. Through this dialog box you can fish through your windows/system32 directory and right-click/open the mscdexnt.exe FILE...Good Luck people..
Tried A:\I386...B-I386 until I hit the jackpot on D:\I386. It wasnt detecting it on my bios and whenever I tried to load from it, I was going a harddrive boot error message. Usually it's a speed issue. Windows Xp Asms Cheers Neil.

I could be wrong here, but dont know your burning speed as I mentioned. Which media are you using? Swapped out optical drive-- bingo! everytime - after a while, it couldnt find files like NT5.CAT etcI think the problem is, in GUI mode it cant get the i386 files folder, what I do wrong, do Plextor was notorious for this issue concerningcdroms (SCSI in particular)!
