Sadly, you will have to do this every time you log on, if you have a system restore point before this desktop problem, then do a system restore. It only shows the sand watch (or whatever you call it) for one second and that's it. My system setup is not especially complex, but I don't have a whole lot of stuff that I'm willing to uninstall for the purpose of troubleshooting this annoying but minor problem. In the cmd prompt went to c:\Windows, found the Explorer.exe file and deleted it. my review here
