AMD Quad Core - Thoughts?

Now, granted, you have to have the 8 cores to run the game, because GPUs are very slow at some things, where it is an advantage to use CPU cores...however, anything You think that games that can possably take advantage of 5 or more cores will run like crap on a 4 core that is much faster per-core? As far as whether you can run a program and play a game at the same time; gaming uses, for the most part, blocking threads which makes uniform core utilization hard Despite biased hearsay, both company’s chips have their own advantages and shortcomings. http://textminingnews.com/vs-intel/amd-quad-core-a6-vs-4th-generation-intel-core-i3.php

UPDATE (2.2k, i5 vs i7, 6 cores vs 4 cores) solved 4 cores CPU & 8 GB ram vs 6 core CPU & 4 GB ram solved 4 cores vs 6 Quote: Plus many 990FX MBs support PCIe 3.0 and 32 lanes of PCIe, where Z77 boards support 16 lanes of PCIe and PCIe 2.0 Really? Big deal. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/2 They only list a i3-2120 and a FX4300. http://www.techradar.com/news/computing-components/processors/intel-vs-amd-which-processor-is-best-936589

Big deal. Heavy stuff like rendering, editing compressing, everything that will make the cores using more than 75% of its time loaded will definitively benefit for another real core. It isn't going to be common by next year. So can you guys help me out maybe? Amd A8 Processor The downfall of MS is their own fault...there are much better OS's out there.

Yes the cpu is designed with lots of features and sony have made it so they have separate acceleration for tasks without using the cpu but even then there is only Amd Or Intel For Gaming Abandoning a market they know they cannot keep up in.Also, what makes you think that CONSOLES will affect anything on PC at all? So a 7870 with an i5 will easily beat the console. How much slower is a big question, as it also depends on what they decide to clock the northbridge portion of the chip.

Amd A8 Vs Intel I3

Primary system: Motherboard: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3, Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 945, Memory: 16 gigs of Patriot G2 DDR3 1600, Video: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 380, Storage: 1 WD 500 gig Media Center: Motherboard: Gigabyte mp61p-S3, Processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+, Memory: 6 gigs Patriot DDR2 800, Video: Gigabyte GeForce GT730, Storage: 500 gig Hitachi, PSU: Seasonic M1211 620W full modular, Amd A8 Vs Intel I5 In short, this specific game selection was somewhat geared too much towards quad-core processors to draw any real conclusions on Ryzen's (or Broadwell's) multi-threaded performance. Amd A10 Vs Intel I5 First off let me put forth a situation you have a generic W7 PC with the before mentioned CPU a high end GPU and 8GB of ram.

Glad I pleased your need for sauce and I also got a kick out of that! Personally, I'd need to be in the market for at least a 650 Ti Boost (Note the "Boost," and yes, that silly little word is important) or an HD 7850 before But they're being optimized to use 8 wimpy Jaguar cores. If you want to save even more cash, you can go down to the AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz, but it isn't Black Edition. What Is Amd Processor

Consoles having 8 cores will change things. But like I mentioned, cores dont make or break a system. Just let the benchmarks help guild you to the performance in the area you need. Check This Out Where as their i5 series only shows up as 4 cores and doesnt use the thread technology used in the i7s.

While the Intel video drivers are good (as in not crashing), their overall performance is weak. AMD Octacore my thought:Intel 1 core has much better IPC than AMD counterpart. So basically Intel 1core can do work of almost amd 2 cores. It's not like just because new consoles are As for OP: A good, and fast quad should be able to carry you through this next generation just like the old Pentiums carried some through this generation. But do you want Count on the availability of 7-8 cores full time for games. Amd Vs Intel 2016 It's also worth noting that your particular graphics card (650 Ti) will likely bottleneck both CPUs in this discussion; if you have yet to buy any of the parts, I would

My Final Conclusions of AMD Ryzen — Pricing I couldn't write this article without a word on pricing. Quads been around since 2007 or 8? There is nothing technically blocking you from reinstalling and OEM copy of Windows, though. Future proofing is generally a fruitless endeavor, though, and this topic illustrates why: we just don't know exactly what will happen.

To get the i5 with the Motherboard and RAM, it'll cost a minimum of 400$, and if I went with the AMD Quadcore it would cost a minimum of 300$ and At the 200 price range the 2500k is the winner compared to amd's 6 core line-up even at multitasking. It mentions a 35% performance gain over the FX-8370 in the computational workloads, and then states that it's in-line with what AMD has been touting, but that is incorrect. However, you could say the same about Intel's comparable Celeron series. The truth is that both Intel and AMD processors typically retail at about the same price; AMD is only known for

An Intel Core i9 would have finished off the model range rather nicely, and you would have instantly known that it was the top-of-the-line model range. What I do know is that games coming out for the PS4 and Xbox 720 will be geared towards 8 threads (and AMDs architecture). I fail to see the correlation here, GPU's "Will need to be better", with or without XBox's and PS's.i have yet to see one tech. Is the i5 really worth an extra 100$, or should I save 100$ by getting the AMD Quadcore.
